Detroit Tigers Birth Card: The 9 of Clubs
Coordinate: 9 of Clubs — The Humanitarian Builder
The first game, not a birthday
The Detroit Tigers birth card on this site is the 9 of Clubs. That mapping uses the Baseball-Reference first MLB game for the franchise now known as the Detroit Tigers: . On that day the club was the Detroit Tigers. Later city moves and name changes do not reset the coordinate. A player date of birth does not set it either.
Baseball-Reference first-game row
BBRef lists this franchise from 1901 (team code DET that season; current code DET). The first regular-season box is 1901-04-25 vs Milwaukee Brewers (Bennett Park). We keep the current marketing name Detroit Tigers.
Wikipedia’s MLB teams table is a year cross-check only. The table cell reads “1901” and mentions the first-game year 1901. No Wikipedia day is used, and no date on this page was invented to fill a hole. Retrosheet’s first-season game log corroborates the same calendar day.
How April 25 becomes the 9 of Clubs
solar_value = 55 − (2 × month + day); if solar_value ≤ 0 the coordinate is the Joker (December 31 only). Deck order is 1 = Ace of Hearts through 52 = King of Spades. For April 25, month = 4 and day = 25, so solar_value = 55 − (2 × 4 + 25) = 22. Slot 22 in that deck is the 9 of Clubs (9♣).
The card is a position on a calendar, the same way a longitude is a position on a globe. It does not say the Detroit Tigers “are” a personality, and it does not predict a season.
Published meaning of the 9 of Clubs
The live meaning page /birth-card/9-of-clubs names this coordinate “The Humanitarian Builder.” That copy is written for a person born on this month and day. Quoted here, it describes the coordinate — not a reading of the franchise.
You let a used-up framework go and keep the part that still works.
You keep the large view without skipping the next practical step. Your thoughts are about humanity, progress, and possibility. You think in big pictures and universal principles. Your mind is oriented toward uplift.
Your curriculum is learning that ideals only matter if they're implemented. You're learning to get your hands dirty, to do the unglamorous work.
Same-card siblings
The 1969 April 8 expansion quartet (Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals) is the largest same-day sibling set in this dataset. Detroit Tigers is not in that set.
Exact same first-game calendar day: Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs.
Same birth-card coordinate (including different first-game days that collapse to the same solar value): Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs.
Detroit Tigers on the record
The Detroit Tigers are an American professional baseball team based in Detroit. The Tigers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central Division. One of the AL's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Detroit as a member of the minor league Western League in 1894 and is the only Western League team still in its original city. They are also the oldest American League team still playing in their original city under their original name. Since their establishment as a major league franchise in 1901, the Tigers have won four World Series championships (1935, 1945, 1968, and 1984), 11 AL pennants (1907, 1908, 1909, 1934, 1935, 1940, 1945, 1968, 1984, 2006, 2012), and four AL Central division championships (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014). They also won division titles in 1972, 1984, and 1987 as a member of the AL East. Since 2000, the Tigers have played their home games at Comerica Park in Downtown Detroit. The Tigers constructed Bennett Park at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Avenue in Corktown just west of Downtown Detroit and began playing there in 1896. In 1912, the team moved into Navin Field, which was built on the same location. It was expanded in 1938 and renamed Briggs Stadium. It was renamed Tiger Stadium in 1961 and the Tigers played there until 1999. From 1901 to 2025, the Tigers' overall win–loss record is 9,763–9,642–93 (.503).
