John Witherspoon's Birth Card: The 7 of Spades
The Questioning Mind
A birth card is a calendar coordinate for the month and day. It is not fortune-telling and does not predict the Declaration or a revolution.
In the record
John Witherspoon (February 5, 1723 – November 15, 1794) was a Scottish-American Presbyterian minister, educator, farmer, and a Founding Father of the United States. The birth-card coordinate for February 5 is the 7 of Spades — a calendar position, not a forecast.
The 7 of Spades coordinate
John Witherspoon's birthday maps to the 7 of Spades (The Questioning Mind). Card Blueprints treats that as a 365-day coordinate: solar value = 55 − (2 × month + day), and the year is unused. It is not a prediction about the Declaration and not a verdict on John Witherspoon. The card's own language, quoted as system copy rather than biography: You study the hard pattern until you can name it, then you do the next honest thing.
John Witherspoon in the public record
Witherspoon embraced the concepts of Scottish common sense realism, and while president of the College of New Jersey (1768–1794; now Princeton University) became an influential figure in the development of the United States' national character. Politically active, Witherspoon was a delegate from New Jersey to the Second Continental Congress and a signatory to the July 4, 1776, Declaration of Independence. He was the only active clergyman and the only college president to sign the Declaration. Later, he signed the Articles of Confederation and supported ratification of the Constitution of the United States. In 1789 he was convening moderator of the First General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. As one of the first national leaders of American Presbyterianism, he promoted theological and civic ideas adjacent to John Calvin, John Knox, and Samuel Rutherford, particularly the concept that resistance to tyranny is obedience to God. John Witherspoon was born in Yester, Scotland, documented in the Old Parish Register as the eldest child of the Reverend James Alexander Witherspoon and Anne Walker, a descendant of John Welsh of Ayr and John Knox. This latter claim of Knox descent though ancient in origin is long disputed and without primary documentation.

Where the record meets the 8 of Hearts
A card is a calendar coordinate, not a cause. What follows sets one line of the card's own published language beside one sentence of the sourced record, paired by a documented rule. It is a resemblance offered for the reader to weigh — not a claim about John Witherspoon, and not a forecast of the Revolution.
