What Is a Long Range Card?

Picture the year as a book. The period cards are chapters. The Long Range card is the title. Chapters change. The title keeps clearing its throat.

Because it covers the whole year, the Long Range card usually gets read first and quoted often. A Mars period under a Two of Hearts Long Range year feels nothing like the same period under an Eight of Spades year. Context is rude like that.

Read the suit as the domain the year keeps dragging you back to. Read the rank as the kind of movement it keeps asking for. A Diamond Long Range year keeps raising value and resource questions. A Five keeps raising change questions. Constantly.

Then hold it loosely. The card names a theme worth noticing. It is not an appointment.

Mistake one: reading the Long Range card as a prediction. A Nine means loss. A Ten means success. No. Ranks are patterns with centered and distorted expressions, in timing the same as in personality.

Mistake two: forgetting it exists after the first month. Its value shows up in review. At year's end the theme is usually obvious. In week two it was a card you looked at once before closing the tab.
